the rebel inside

i was tidying up the place a few days ago and found this little barbell lying on the floor. i stared at it for a while then put it back to where it belongs, the jewelery box.

the last time i wore it was a few months ago. i was on a couple of dates with a person, let's just call him a-ho. so, a-ho and i had lunch at this club house, he kept saying he was worried that his dad might bump into us. oh ok, so i guess i'm not 'good enough' to meet UNCLE's standard, not qualified to be MR. PERFECT's lil princess. not that i gave a shit anyway. i sat there, waiting for him to finish his lunch, idling.

"u shd keep ur mouth closed" I BEG YOUR PARDON?!?!
"did u juz tell me to shut my mouth?" i cldnt believe my ears, "WHAT FOR?" i asked.
"even the guy from the next table can see your tongue piercing from distance!"

that night, i told him not to call anymore. although we have made up a few days later (and eventually "broke up" for other reasons, thank god). i've never put on that barbell ever since.

when i was younger, like most rebellious kids, i had many ear-peircings, all on the left ear though. a lot of ppl asked me if i was gay and i was often mistaken as a TB. Then when I first started working, I had my nose (piercing!) done. But i never wore them anymore, ever since i became an OL.

two yrs later, i had my belly-button pierced. like having tattoos, it is very addictive. a week after, i had my tongue done at lunch time. I was accompanied by a coworker and I made her witness the whole pierce-through-the-tongue process. yes. it's bloody and GROSS. I lied to my boss that afternoon, sed i had a toothache. the wound healed in a mth, i cld then take the ring off during weekdays.

yes, sum men were very curious abt my tongue ring at first, if u must know. but most guys just would not approach me. when they see the stud, they see a slut, according to the 'decent guys'. in fact, i've always been okay with the prejudice. i wouldnt wanna date any1 narrow-minded or ppl who judge others by the covers neither. so be my guest.

until this last incident with a-ho. it kept me thinking all this time, is it finally time to 'grow up' and let go of that rebel inside me?

and tonite, after 3.5 mths of hesitation, i picked up the barbell again. i didnt care how painful it would be, how much blood there would be, i juz pushed it right through.

becox i dunt need YOU to tell me if i'm good enough.
